The Sixteen; Harry Christophers, Director
The Sixteen is a group of former Oxbridge music scholars, founded some nine years ago by Harry Christopher, who directs them in this recording of five of the antiphons in the Eton Choirbook, including two settings of the Salve Regina. One notable feature of the ensemble is the use of female trebles.
The remarkably polished performances ... are graced by first-rate singing. They certainly make one wish for others to follow, so that this wonderful music is finally rescued from undeserved obscurity.
