The ... Musical Heritage Society per­forms especially well in issuing these compact discs of significant baroque music in spirited, authentic perfor­mances. Telemann's Overtures in seven to nine movements each are graceful, entertaining, imaginative pieces all too rarely heard, and Har­noncourt invests them with eventful, lyrical, colorful detail. Bach's harp­sichord concerti are less engaging, their now brittle, now affecting con­tent approached a bit too matter-of­factly, but his beloved Brandenburgs
