The ... Musical Heritage Society perÂforms especially well in issuing these compact discs of significant baroque music in spirited, authentic perforÂmances. Telemann's Overtures in seven to nine movements each are graceful, entertaining, imaginative pieces all too rarely heard, and HarÂnoncourt invests them with eventful, lyrical, colorful detail. Bach's harpÂsichord concerti are less engaging, their now brittle, now affecting conÂtent approached a bit too matter-ofÂfactly, but his beloved Brandenburgs
